What a weekend, and it's not even half over! After work last night (and yes, M, I found my CD player face) I was heading out for gaming and noticed the car was running close to hot. Figured it was just out of coolant again (same as a few weeks ago) and I'd just fill it in the morning and drive over to the mechanic near my house to get it checked out.
Sounded like a good plan at the time. However...
After filling the empty coolant reservoir, I turned the car on and it immediately jumped all the way to HOT. After sitting for 9 hours, there should have been some space between being turned on and HOT, but noooo, and on top of that there was a sweet burning smell coming from somewhere. I used a funnel to pour the coolant, it wasn't that... So I drove it to the nearest car shop, ASAP. They poked it a bit and declared it to be a bad heater core. Which would take 6 hours and a lot of money to fix. (I'd already plunked down a good bit of change last Monday to get a different part replaced, I was less than pleased. >.<;; )
As I hadn't slept since waking up to go to work Friday, I was not in the mood to spend 6 hours at the car shop, but I was on 1960 (I live waaay on the other side of town.) SO! I called up one of the guys from the game, woke him up, and begged to nap at his place till the car was ready. He got up, picked me up, and woke up again to drop me off when the car was ready. (I think I owe him something nice for that.)
Needless to say, once all that was done, all I wanted was home, nap and shower. Till I remembered I still had to pick up a new shower curtain. SO! Off to Hell (WalMart) I went. While there, I also picked up the extended Two Towers dvd set. (Anyone know of any Easter Eggs on that thing?)
All I gotta say is, that damn car better stay in one piece for a good, long while after this.
