ladydouji woke me up bright and early (ok, it was noon, but as I'd only gotten to bed around 8am, it was early. And yes, I'd been gaming... did you even have to ask?) Off we went to Galveston for Mardi Gras! Call it an interesting portent, but just as we crossed the bridge onto the island there was a HUGE fireball with a pillar of smoke you could see for miles, off to our left. No idea what blew up, but the fire trucks in the other lane were sure hauling ass...
Got to the festival just in time for the kid's parade (We're all bead whores, every one.) and then it was off to hear poetry readings by the Poets Roundtable of Galveston Artists Guild. (PRGAG? *shrug*) It was SO much fun! Mostly older writers reading their latest works, with 25-30 people listening. Two hours worth of improv and festival inspired themes. I want to go next year... maybe even prepare something for the open mike portion.
As it was late and kind'a rainy, we wandered only a bit more. ladydouji dropped a bundle on masks to hang on her walls and then it was off to dinner. As we were on Galveston, it only made sense to go for seafood.
It was nice, going on the slow end of the last day. Not was crowded, rowdy or dangerous as the rest of the festival, and we could take our time and enjoy ourselves. Something to remember for next year, definitely.
