Oot and aboot
Feb. 5th, 2006 08:09 pmThe guys went to play at an open-mike last night at The Elegant Hogg (a really nice place off of Kirkwood and Briar Forest... you wouldn't think so judging from the name, and the run down washateria and stuff next door doesn't help, but once you're inside it's all class.) The first handfull of musicians were all acoustic guitar, mostly doing Paul Simon or early Beatles covers, and there we were in the corner with our electric guitars and bass amps... needless to say there was more than a little talk about turning around and going home. But once the guys were set up and actually playing, everything seemed to click. (I think most of the people there were just happy to hear something different.) Afterwards, we heard one of the best flamenco guitarists I've ever seen. A little after midnight we packed up the gear and all headed to Confucius for dinner.
Today was pretty much a lazy day, though I did try to clean up the back porch some... the plastic chairs they've had back there for years are coated in grime. I just hope I can get everything done before Dad visits next week. *crosses fingers*
