Another year, and another A-kon has been fought and conquered.
Headed up to Dallas after work Thursday (which is really 1am Friday morning) and made it in around 6am... just in time to get in the registration line. ( >.<;; At least they had Starbucks to help with the three hour wait.)
Then, after being accosted by some preteen who wanted to drool over Animatrix cards, (Geeze, don't parents tell kids not to talk to strangers any more??? I'm as strange as they get!) I hit the dealer's room, if only to keep awake till noon when they'd have my room ready. Then I crashed till TPod showed up.
Man, she makes cons interesting. Never knew you could have that much fun with a door.... (What happened was, T was putting flyers for Yaoi-Con on our door, but some snot kept tearing them down. MAN was it pissing her off, so she eventually wrote a challenging note and taped it up as well. They wrote back! "U R Gay!" She got flamed for the door! So, of course, she -had- to write back again, and by the last day the door was covered in taped up notes! They were shocked to discover she was a woman, and even wrote something like "If U R hot, I will be gay 4 U" In the end it was fun trying to guess what the kids would write back. ^_~)
We hit the dealers rooms. We hit it a lot. I mean a really lot.
Things I got this year:

Saiyuki - a badge pin of Sanzo, free from ADV (They'd already run out of the other three)
Yami No Matsuei - The Puppy Tsuzuki and the Hisoka with the Bone! Yes! *happy dance* I've been looking for this set for years now!

.hack//sign - a chibi Tsukasa (Cute!)

2 short collections of Lee Martindale's works. She finally published To Stand As Witness, and I couldn't turn it down.
a short collection of stories by Melanie Fletcher, because I simply -couldn't- pass owning a copy of her story Heramaphrodite
And, of course, I brought home pockey and these great chocolate filled marshmellow things.
Man, did I go nuts or what?
Friday night, after more door fun, was a Yaoi-fest thing, but frankly I was unimpressed. The woman running it knew a lot about yaoi, factoids and such, but she kept mispronouncing it (she was saying "yo" as in "Yo! Wass'up" and "Ai" as in "shonen ai" 'cause she wanted to emphasize the "love" *shakes head*) We didn't even stay for the porn, 'cause it was late and we were tired. (The room, however, was packed, with at least 80 people, so maybe next year they'll prepare something better ahead of time.)
After still more fun with the door, we stayed up talking for hours.
Saturday, more dealers rooms and door drama. I was able to catch the first two eps of Read or Die which looked kind of interesting. Wasn't thrilled with the art style, but it was quirky and fast paced. Later, we were able to hear Lee Martindale do a reading, then the art auction and a room party. Um, I don't remember much from about half way through the party on, sorry... But there was SwampWater, Chinese Elixer of Imortality, (Which I apparently wrote down the recipe for?) and some Candy thing that had a hell of a kick to it... a cute enlisted boy, and a couple other drunk guys, and talk about slash, Snape!fic, ball gags and strap ons... and LOTS of Ewan McGregor. (See? The subject line IS on topic!) T even got to confront the door guys!
The fire alarm went off around 4:30, just as we were heading back to the room. I do remember that, 'cause it sucked.
Sunday we woke up and tried to remember lots of things. (Like the name of the girl sleeping in the room with us.) Then there was more dealers room, and then TPod had to leave. *sniffles and misses*
I holed up in the video room for a few more hours (caught a sweet Fruits Basket vid by Kestral... it's all about Kyo *sigh*) and headed home.
Now I'm home.

LOL @ those doorguys. Poor dear, I think I may have damned near made him wet his pants. I can't even remember what I said, I was so trashed. ;oD
Still have to write up my con report, but I'm a little out of sorts, so will do so when I wake up a bit more.
