A-kon Report 2002
Jun. 3rd, 2002 06:42 pmThis is along the lines of what I posted to MinkChat, just with all the more boring personal stuff included...
Friday night the lovely Wren, Wiggle and I got cozy and recouped from spending *way* to much time in the car by ordering pizza and a movie. 'The Velocity of Gary' may not be light and fluffy, but I don't think any of us were going to knock a chance to watch a couple guys making out.
Saturday we hooked up with T-Pod's rack and spent waaaay to much in the dealers room before heading to the Photoshop panel that wasn't. (It had technical difficulties out the wazoo) However! We did meet the lovely and talented Sammie-Ma there, so it wasn't a total wash.
As Wiggle and I were walking through the crowd a strange man walked up to us and offered us candy. I decided right there that I should walk next to her more often! The next weird-o might be cute!
There was a nice firm tush with a cute little guy attached, prancing around in Assless Battle Shorts (from Vagrant Story I believe?) for the cosplay. We later found a cute little Trowa who was willing to sell himself by the hour for spending money, but he was too young. *sniffle* The girls as Tasuki and Chichiri were willing to do yaoi poses together though, so that was nice.
The 'Sex in Science Fiction' panel was full, so we couldn't get in *pout* and I missed the MegaTokyo panel as well, but bopping about with friends was more important anyway. I did stop at their table later, but poor Fred Gallagher (Piro) looked absolutely swamped! He poor hand seemed about ready to fall off any second, and I just didn't have the heart to ask him for a sketch of Tohya (the girl with those lovely ribbons twined through her hair... I love her evil smirk.) Oh well.
More money spending, some anime watching (Rose of Versailles... my brain still hurts... OSCAR!) some running around, and then it was time for the yaoi panel! Yay!
Some cute bit of boy had been done up in makeup by his girlfriend, eye shadow, blush... glitter on his cheeks... tall and blond and so shy with everyone looking and wanting to paw all over him... Oh yeah, and the yaoi panel went well too. T-Pod's rack made sure Yaoi-con got a good mention, too. Afterwards we watched Level C and Bad Teacher Equation. (I am such a ditz. I'd followed Bad Teacher Equation in BeXBoy for a year, but all while I'm watching the anime it never dawned on me that it was the *same* thing!)
Sunday saw more money slipping away in the dealers room, then is was baibai con... I ended up getting so much stuff this year!
The Arislan dvd
Volumes 6-8 of Clamp Campus Detectives (now I'm only missing #5)
An Arislan mechanical pencil with pictures of Daryoon, Arislan and Narsus on it
A Wolfwood keychain
Cowboy Bebop trading cards
Samurai Troopers trading cards (I got the one with Chibi Kento! Squeeeee!)
Pencil boards to shows I've never heard of, just 'cause they're cute ^_~
A Hakkai plushy, idol card, pin and keychain (along with a Sanzo keychain and Gojyo pin)
And Wren got me a Muraki dangle! *hugs* It's the bestest thing in the whole wide world! ^_^*V*
After saying goodbye to T-Pod, we went out for bubble tea and then sushi. The bubble tea place was interesting, you could take your drink into a black light room, with glow in the dark stars all over the walls and ceiling.
I ended up getting home around 2 in the morning >.< but it was worth it!
Definitely something we'll have to do again next year!
