Home at last, home at last
Sep. 1st, 2003 11:40 pmThank god almighty, I'm home at last.
Not that the weekend wasn't a complete blast, 'cause it was, but there's nothing quite like sleeping in your bed, or working on your computer.
ladydouji and I arrived at Mizu no Ryu's somewhere around 3AM Saturday morning (only because I took a half day Friday. Imagine if I'd worked till 1AM like I was supposed to!) AnimeFest was one of the most laid back cons I think I've ever been to. Not staying at the con hotel really makes a difference!
It was a fun con, full of costumes and dealers rooms, anime and movies and panels... the fan fiction panel could have used a firmer moderator to keep things on topic, perhaps, but it was all still fun. Saw some new Anime, and the midnight horror movie (The Eye, reminiscent of The Sixth Sense) didn't give me nightmares, so it's all good. Picked up some Fruits Baskets zipper pulls in the dealers room, little things like that. Oh, and three new decks of cards. One from Gravitation, and two from Cowboy Bebop (of which, a certain blue haired bandit promptly stole the card displaying an old sax laying on a bar.)
katsudon hooked up with us, and taught Deb and I how to play Gin. *smirk* I kicked ass. (This morning, pre caffeine, I noticed it was just after 9 and the alarm hadn't gone off yet... I thought Katsu was gonna be late for her plane. It never occurred to me the alarm might be set for 9:15 instead, so I woke her up... and MAN did I get a look! But at least she didn't miss her flight! ^_^*V* ...that is, I think she didn't miss her flight. *pokes Katsu* Oi! Did you miss your flight?)
The only really weird thing about the entire weekend was the bad food mojo that descended upon us. I'm serious, almost every meal we had was in some way weird, odd or difficult to obtain. (It should not take five stops to find an open restaurant at 4 in the afternoon on a Sunday. Really, it shouldn't! Dinner the night before wasn't much easier... And don't get me started on the pizza!)
But I'm home now, and in serious need of sleep before seeing R tomorrow... So good night, and thanks for all the fish.
