I'd had a plan
Sep. 6th, 2003 11:20 pmAnd it was a good plan, too! The Animation Show! started at 7:30 at The Alamo Drafthouse, so I got there around 7, ordered up some dinner, and sat back to wait.
And boy did I wait.
Come 8, I was a good way into my burger and had polished off half my Guinness, and finally the coming attractions start... Then the movie...
You can imagine my surprise when Kevin Costner came on screen. >.<;; I was in the wrong damn theater, and the show I was supposed to see was already a half hour gone! So, being rather mellow (thanks to said Guinness), I sat back and watched Open Range instead.
Not bad, as far as Westerns go. Better than Unforgiven, good use of humor... And there's something about a rugged, hard worn face in the firelight that pushes all the right buttons. Every crevice, every line has it's own story, and you'll never know 'em all but it'd be damn worth the try finding out.
Luckily the Animation Show! will be around a few more weeks... I'll have to see if it's something I can take David to.
