A friend at work was talking about how his mother-in-law always insisted on highly detailed lists of what was wanted for Christmas, and this year he decided to write one himself... and was nice enough to share.

Santa is coming! Wow, its hard to believe its Christmas time again, but
as it is, I guess lots of people (like my mother-in-law) would want to
know what I would like for Christmas. If there are any big spenders who
draw my name, base metals are in this Christmas. Pig iron is nice,
though it can be a bit bulky. Steel is much lighter than Pig Iron and
can be easily transported via the nations rail system. Aluminum is also
a good one. It doesn't shrink when you wash it, its very durable. It can
be molded into many different shapes and forms and painted a rainbow of
colours.*

Base metals can be formed into things like, a Dodge Neon SRT4, or maybe
a Mazda 3 (available for delivery in early 2004) or a nice small sedan.
If your a Toyota freak, the CorollaS or maybe a sporty Toyota Matrix.
Actually, I would really like an Opel S Speedster, but since those are
only made of European base metals, that would be kind of stretching it.
Plastics are also a big hit this holiday season. Plastics can be molded
into any shape you can imagine. They can carry so many different items
and be coloured into a million and 6 different colours. You find
plastics on things like a Neon SRT4, Mazda 3 or the Corolla S. Not to
mention the Matrix. Those European plastics used in the Opel S Speedster
are probably out of the question. Plastics are also used in Handspring
Visor Prism or Visor Edge.

Many different Pig Irons and plastics can be found comingled in your
local Home Depot or Lowes, forming things like toolboxes (the Home Depot
has a big one that's under $20 american dollars), and Delta 10 inch-13
amp compound miter saw, (found on page 4 or 5 in the Lowes catalogue
that came out on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving) and workbenches.
Drillbits are a great combination of plastic and metal working great
together. The plastic protects the metal from rust and parasites.
Chipper shredders are made of pig iron, which is melted down and rolled
into steel and formed into housings and blades and motors. They use
plastics in the poles (not the polish people) onto which, they affix
chain saws so you can sit in your easy chair and cut fire wood. This is
the 21st century you know! Metals are also used in Handspring Visor
Prism or Visor Edge.

Cloth doesn't have much plastic or base metals in it. That is why it is
light and easy to wash and dry. It also makes it very portable and can
be taken almost anywhere, except into the blast furnace where the pig
iron is made. If I were to pick things made of cloth, I’d pick a T-shirt
that's says "PAX217", "Switchfoot", "RelientK" or "Jars of Clay". These
can be found at places like PAX217.com or www.relientk.com or just do a
google search for them. If you can’t do that kind of cloth, I can always
use nice shirts. I like the large ones or the XL in the t’s. Not the
ones that have the little alligators, but if they said something like
"Pig Iron - The Other Metal!" that would really ROCK! Since they can be
made into a rainbow of colors, I will let you pick. Hawaiian shirts can
always be great fun, like at League City Pig Iron Parties or the Alvin
Community Plastic Parade. As long as they contain no plastics that will
alert airline security agents, underwear and sox (especially sox with
the National Council of Plastics logo on them) are always the rave
during scavenger hunts.

Carpenters jeans that are made out of cloth and metal (zippers ya know),
and are always a favorite and are actually very affordable! I like the
ones by Wrangler and they are usually around 18 euros.* The Levis are
good but can be very expensive. I can also use dress pants, the kind
that you’d wear to church or a wedding. (34W 31/32L)
I understand there will be some people who will be riding the plastics
bandwagon this holiday season, so might I suggest those plastic disks
that store images or the latest sound recordings. It would be easy to
go to amazon.com and look for me in the wish lists, (use my email
address ) and if you see the question "why
don’t I have 11 toes," then you will know you are at my list. Plastic
gift cards to places like Über Target, Starbucks, Whataburger, Home
Depot or Lowes, or any CD shoppe are always cool, since they are a hot
Christmas item; please however, refrain from gift cards to BigLots
(McCraples), as this will only make my wife green with envy, and then
she might steal it from me.

While leather is not a precious metal, it is understood as one of the
cows favorite coatings. Most leather products in America are actually
made from the reptilian cows of Sri Lanka. They constantly shed their
leather and local villagers collect this and sew it into wallets and
belts and shoes. Now you know!

If anyone has any questions, please call me at home. Operators are
standing by: or on my cell . But not on my cell
on Wednesday mornings, or Thursdays and Fridays during the day (I sleep
those days). You can also email me at: .

merry christmas
¡felix navidad!

Thank you for posting Staan's letter! It was the last thing I read at work and thought it was hilarious! He even italized key words for his mother-in-law so she would know what he wanted.
