Last weekend's rpg, cont....
Mar. 23rd, 2004 10:41 pmWe didn’t play as long Sunday, everyone was beat, but we also really wanted to get our characters the hell out of that city and on with the plot, SO we kind’a fast-forwarded some time while the Elf got some spells ready. The fighter spent his time drinking in the tavern, the monk counting all the money he won betting on the gauntlet, Marius ran into an old sparing buddy who wanted to join the upcoming fight, and Allium and Arrmando were... *cough* indisposed, only surfacing now and then for food.
As the time was on fast-forward, no real RP’ing went on, but I imagine the last thing Allium would want to do is talk “shop”. After the pressure of the gauntlet, she’d be more interested in hearing stories about places she’s never been, things she’s never seen, Arrmando’s life... distractions. When talking about her own life and adventures, she’d talk more about the places than the things she’s done. (A bit of an inferiority complex plays into this too.)
The Elf came back from doing his magic thing, they did some recon to find out where the SOB they had to take down was, and off they went. Nine in total, it looked like they were going out on a mafia hit.
Turns out the enemy were waiting. Inside the warehouse were one hundred ware-rats type guys, a sorcerer, and a summoning circle. Arrmando talked ‘em into opening the door, but it was pitch black in there, no one could see anything. Allium had a sword that cast sunlight, so she went in behind Marius, but Arrmando tried to shield her when the ware-rats were reveled. ...she just gave him a look and stepped around.
A few well placed fireballs thinned the opposition nicely, but the monk wasn’t able to disrupt the summoning in time, and the next thing they knew there was a Huge Undead Shadow Thing (tm) standing there. Very not good. The fighters took off after it, the Elf kept lobbing spells, and Allium held back using long range attacks while she could but eventually stepped up to flank the thing. It let lose with a spell and the entire group was covered in a deadly fog. Now one of the bit of swag she’s held on to is a magic wind fan that can blow winds up to hurricane strength, and Allium was planning on running for the other side of the cloud and blowing it out of the warehouse, but Arrmando grabbed her as he was moving to safety... resulting in her being on the wrong side of the cloud from the door! Man, she was pissed! She wrenched away from him, growled “I’m working now, but we will talk later!” and headed off to reflank the beast, leaving him looking confused. (When he nearly dropped after getting hit hard by the beast, she knew she’d hate herself if that was the last thing she ever said to him, but the middle of a fight’s just not the time or place for emotions.)
The beast let go with another cloud spell, but the group was able to take it down... only to learn that four more “regiments” of enemy were on the way, surrounding the warehouse. Those that needed them popped some healing, and, as it was late and everyone was tired, we called it a night.
The rest of the fight will probably be picked up on Friday.
