Came home tonight (3AM) to find a rolled up notice from the Apartment Complex stuck on my door... all about a shooting that happened on the premises last night. Supposedly both the victim and the suspect were trespassers, blah blah blah, only you can guarantee your safety, blah blah and more blah, lock your doors when your both in and out of your apartment, never go for a walk alone at night, blah blah fcuking blah. My, don't I feel secure. Especially considering I think I walked past the guys not five minutes before the shooting last night. (Hearing a gun being emptied is a common occurrence around here.)

I want to live north of Houston again... maybe up around 290. Any suggestions on breaking a lease?

That's sooo not cool. Um, can you break you lease under grounds of personal safety? dangerous conditions? I'd read your contract and see what's up.

yeah... moved down here about a year and a half ago to be closer to work. It wasn't that bad for a while, but I'd say the last six months have really gotten worse. My lease is up in August (I think) and I'll definately be moving.

Yikes. = \ Reminds me of living in Chicago's south side... Like one day I came home from work and there were 9 squad cars in front of my building and 15 people sitting on the grass with their hands on their heads. There was always something scary going on there. *shudder*

You should be able to get out of the lease somehow. Sorry I don't have any answers right now, but here's hoping you can move out ASAP!

your description of the notice is just hysterical. ^_^

the event is very scary tho. wow. and I thought I lived in the ghetto, what with all the bums around and the cars getting broken into. at least nobody got shot. ssscary! it's like an episode of Law and Order.

As for lease breaking, the only way I got out of it was by proving that my landlord didn't hold up his end of the lease. any way you can prove anything like that?

I don't think I can prove anything, since they sent out that flyer about what happened... It's only a couple more months? And I'm thinking about getting some mace.
