What a way to start the day
May. 7th, 2004 05:09 pmManaged roughly four hours sleep before Salvation Army called to pick up some old furniture. Mind, they didn’t actually show up till an hour and a half after that... (Couldn’t find my apartment, even though they had the address and I was on the phone with dispatch describing the neighborhood. They were just around the corner and still couldn’t find the place. >.<;; ) Now at least I don’t have to worry about moving my old bookcase or table. They refused to take my entertainment center, said it was in too bad shape. *shrug*
Tried to get to sleep after they’d left, but the telemarketers descended. Can’t remember if I cursed out the SBC lady before hanging up on her or just dreamed it, but it felt good either way?
TPod’s package arrived today! The sweetest Saiyuki shonen ai dj ever. ^_^*V* *hugs*
Stopped at Starbucks on the way in, picked up a grande mocha with four shots of espresso and an espresso fudge brownie. (Heart attack, here I come.) The guy behind the register started joking around, saying “So, you wanted decaf right?” ...I started to climb over the counter to hurt him, but at least he got the message.
So now I’m at work, and my day is just starting. *falls over* Oh boy.
And now I’ve just heard Ging isn’t coming into work today either. Damn I hope she doesn’t quit. :(

Date: 2004-05-08 12:53 pm (UTC)As for dj, it's not a who, it's a what. DJ is short for doujinshi, aka Japanese comic. Specifically comics written using characters from a show by someone not affiliated with the official production. (Like a comic about Harry Potter based off of fanfiction.) In Japan they look at DJ's as free publicity and don't go around trying to shut 'em down (well, except for Yaoi... which, so happens, is the kind I have. You don't have to worry about that though.) There are DJ's about damn near any movie and show out there with a big enough following, from cute and silly to serious to sexay (just like there's so many different kinds of fanfiction. The quality fluctuates about as much as well.)
What's interesting is CLAMP, the company that brought us Clamp Campus Detectives and Card Captor Sakura and a boat load of others, started by drawing DJ's about other peoples shows. Only later when they had developed their own style did they start producing original stories, and now they're one of the most successful out there!
I think I've shown you this before? http://piratemonkeysinc.com/ms1.htm Now imagine a book full of stuff like that.
Aren't you glad you asked? ^_~
