Hm. If I up my cell phone plan by one and don't have a land line, I think I can have DSL instead of dial up in my new apartment for pretty much what I'm paying now for all three. The thing is...

1. It feels kind'a creepy thinking about not having a land line (not that I use it for more than dial up and calling my Grandma on the weekends)

2. I either go with SBCYahooProdegyFlashNetWhoever they're this week, or change website addys (not a big deal, but still...)

3. I know less than nothing about DSL, other than it's nifty keen faster. Do only certain companies only go to certain apartment complexes? What about shopping for rates? *is a newbie at this, and it shows*

4. I don't have a 4, but I'm sure there's something out there I don't know about that I should know about... so that would go here.

Suggestions? Anyone? Bueller?

Um, all I know is I'm pretty sure you have to have a land line to have DSL because it's through the phone line it just runs on a different frequency. We have SBCYahoo, SBC, and Cingular are all the same company so if you get everything put on one bill they give you great rates....

Don't know if that helped?

Hopefully this helps.

DSl goes to any complex within 1 mile of a routing station. Cable modem goes to only certain complexes that offer either time warner or a cable company that offers cable modem. And sorry, but you do have to have a lan line to have DSL.
