Friday:

Was woken up way to friggin’ early by Ladydouji (by which I mean 8:30. She’s evil.) and we hit the road. So far so good, except for lunch we stopped at the Jack in the Box from Deliverance. Two women were having a conversation by hollering at each other across the crowded room, going on about how one’s daughter was going up for 30 years and the cops couldn’t wait for her son to turn 17 so they could charge him as an adult. We just looked at each other, grabbed our food, and ate in the car.

Getting to Dallas was pretty uneventful after that. Dropped everything off in the room, picked up my Akon badge and one of their t-shirts, and hit the dealer’s room. (And waved goodbye to a paycheck or two.)

Here’s what all I’d picked up by the end of the weekend:a Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust cell, 2 random art pieces from the gallery, Voices of a Distant Star DVD, Miyuki-chan in Wonderlad DVD (What can I say? I like Myuki-chan), The Slayers Try box set, A couple game figures from Reaper for D&D, along with the paint to do ‘em up right, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon manga volumes 5 & 6 (Bandits! *purrr* Talk about hawt!), Demon Diary manga volume 7, Black Mage, Ranma-chan w/ P-chan, Wolfwood and Chichiri pins, a Kyo from Fruits Basket keychain, and for the kiddo a Monty Python t-shirt and Black Knight plushy (the arms and legs come off!)

Soon it was time for phone tag with Wrenlet, who we later met up with for dinner and a movie. Ladydouji went off to play in the arcade while Wren and I leered at could-be-legal skaters at the indoor skate park in the Mall. (My god, the arms on some of those boys... and the shoulders! Strong, wide, clawable shoulders.... *drool*) *cough* Anyway, then it was time for Harry Potter.

As for the movie... it made me want to read the book again. Um, the twins were cute? And the end credits were fun.

Ladydouji and I got back to the hotel around 2am, she crashed and I went to the Yaoi showing. Was able to catch the last hour and a half or so... the end of Fujimi Orchestra and some of After Hours In The Teachers Lounge. I was pleasantly amused at just how many guys were at the showing. (Drug there by girlfriends, no doubt. ^_~)

And then bed.

Saturday:

Another spin around the dealer’s room, almost picked up a kimono but it was blue instead of black, played phone tag with Mizzykitty about getting together for dinner, and then wandered over to the Reaper display by the table top games. Big mistake. They had hundreds of figures on display! To top it off, there were two tables set up with paints and brushes for people to use... I’m never so happy as when there’s paint under my nails, I had to play. Next thing I know, Deb’s popped up next to me and it’s time for dinner! Haven’t finished the fig yet, but I don’t think it’s a bad start. (And let me tell you, having the right kind of paints makes a world of difference!)

We met up with the ever bubbly Mizzykitty (you are, and you know it!) who damn near gave me a heart attack on the freeway. Nothing lets you know you’re alive like her driving, I swear. Made a deal with Rick, and now I’ve a laptop of my very own. ^_^*V* And then it was off to dinner. Osaka in Dallas has some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. *drool*

After dinner, Sam dropped us back off at the hotel and we bopped around a bit (I was still trying to figure out how to work the laptop’s little mouse thingy.) We decided to go see the Misfits of Comedy (an improv group they had scheduled) and just about died laughing. Then Deb headed for bed and I hit the Kaos room. Now, I don’t play LAN type computer games, and haven’t played a first person shooter in years. So sure, I had my ass handed to me on a silver platter, but it was still fun.

And then bed.

Sunday:

Woke up around 10 and did the flight of the bumblebee trying to pack up everything before noon. (Not that it helped. Turns out I forgot my pillow in the hotel room!) Loaded the car, did one last lap around the dealer’s room, and we were off. Can’t say as I remember much of the drive home... sleep dep’ll do that to ya.

Got in just in time to watch the Tony awards (Yay Hugh! And Aidan Gillen was a nominee! WOOT!) After, I was just about to collapse on the bed when a friend called. As I had lots of nifty con stuff to show off, I headed out... Didn’t get back till around dawn.

And then, finally, bed.

I think this may be the last out of town anime con I go to. Talk about burn out! But then, I’ve said it before and I still go anyway, so who knows. *shrug* There really wasn’t anything listed in the vid rooms I wanted to see, and the panels I’d want to catch were all friday morning, so they got missed. Maybe I’m just tired of playing the elevator game and dodging fanboy funk. (Talk about your weapons of mass destruction! Gah!) There are a couple new ones starting up here in Houston, so maybe just going for a day instead of an entire weekend’ll be different. Eh, we’ll see.

*preens* Now, this isn't from the original, but the movie Bloodlust that came after (and is even more pretty, imho) You'll have to come by some time so I can show it off ^_~
