Work was deader than dead tonight, so G and I slipped out early to see Alien Vs Predator instead.

On the way up to the second level of the theater complex, I take a header on the escalator and slam my knee into the sharp metal teeth along its edge. G freaks and I, feeling like a Class A Klutz, wave her off saying it's not so bad.

G: *still freaking* Not so bad? You're bleeding!

Yep. Somehow I managed to gouge three nasty holes across my kneecap. Still trying to calm her down, I tell her to go get some snacks while I check it out in the bathroom. No, I didn't tell her about the holes.... but I did get a bag of peanut M&M's out of her.

The movie itself started sloooow, but it may have seemed that way to me due to being distracted by the feeling of blood coagulating to my jeans. Then Carmine showed up. (If you don't know about Carmine, you've gotta read Katsudon's review of the movie HERE. Spoiler warnings for the end, but damn well worth it.)

As we were leaving the theater I joked about hoping there weren't any holes in my jeans. (Turns out there's three. Damn, and they were good jeans too.) G's response was priceless, mostly for the expression on her face. "Holes? J, there's blood!"

I'm home now, and have cleaned it up and popped some asprine. It's fine, really... still, I wish I had a cane I could show up at work with tomorrow, just to see her reaction. ^_~

I'm getting into Dallas Friday night, but will be hanging with wrenlet, and won't head to the Con till Sat morning. And I have to be back in Houston Sunday morning, but that gives us a good chuck of a day. I think I still have your phone number, I could call you when I get to the hotel Sat?

Ouch. =( Your poor knee!
Sucks about the film... I'd really been looking forward to it. That review was entertaining enough that I might go anyway - if I can find someone to accompany me and heckle it with. =\

I think it's not so bad a movie you'd regret seeing it on a big screen, though personally I'm hoping for a director's cut on DVD to make it better.

Not good

Ouch! *Hugs* well, I hope you bit it back! The machines are not supposed to fight back. And if you had a cane you could also put your arm in a sling and wrap some ace bandages around your head and walk up to her and say "Hell, I went back for a second round w/that damn escalator and it really kicked the shit out of me this time!"

*grin* We decided I was the first victim to rising escalator violence, and she would have to avenge me... leading to a violent series of events inculding subatage with "Remember J" spraypainted on the walls. If it was a movie, I'd be the one who died in the first five minutes. ^_~
