All in all it was a really great weekend.

The kiddo came over Saturday and we ended up going to see Sky Captain And The Really Long Movie Title, which I loved! The art direction, the costumes, their use of lines all spoke to the artist in me, but more than that, the story reminded me of playing when I was younger, back when having fun was more important than logic. So what if something's realistically impossible, it's the story that's important. And tsubaki_ny is right, it has the Best last line. Ever.

After he went home I kind'a had an unexpected nap, only to be woken up by M dropping by. We ordered pizza and put on some anime... Witch Hunter Robin. Dear god, why didn't anyone warn me just how bad it was? *shudder* Sure, the art's pretty enough, and the music was wonderful (Yoko Kanno, so of course I've already gotten hold of the soundtrack) but GOD, the writing sucked! We suffered through the first four episodes, I guess we kept hoping it'd get better but all we got was MST'ing fodder. B showed up after the horror was over and we put on some Orphan, but it didn't really hold anyone's interest so we settled on Fruits Basket instead.

Sunday was devoted to cleaning and fig painting. (D&D figurine, that is, not actual figs.) Hard to believe how much I've missed the feel of paint under my nails. B dropped back by late that night and we finished up Fruits Basket. The last three episodes are still my favorite favorite favorite.

After that we put on Love Hina Again. Now mind, we'd only had some old fansubs of the original show, so he'd only heard the original Seiyuu. As soon as the American voices came on the DVD of Again, he turned to me, held out the remote, and asked for the subbs! (*tear* I'm so proud!) Amazingly enough, we only managed one episode of Again before the T&A got too much and he turned it off. The original show had it's moments, but it had nothing on that movie!

Today didn't feel like a Monday, there was work at work for a change! At least the day went by quickly... The next couple months should do the same, what with the Texas Renesance Festival starting up (planning on going for Halloween at least) and Oni-Con (which I'd have forgotten about if not for ladydouji!)

Now if I could just curb my impulse shopping (I didn't need a new straw hat, or the handwoven sweater from Tibet. And the necklace which won't even get here for another three weeks? Noooo.), everything'd be groovy.
