zebralittle52I survived my first day on the job!
God, I was nervous. Got out of the house, onto the freeway, and BAM! I'm stuck in traffic from some wreck up ahead. 20 minutes later I find out the wreck was on the other friggin' side of the freeway! Luckily, I still somehow got there on time.
Met the other new guy that's also starting today, as well as a slew of other names and faces, and hell if I can remember a single one of 'em. That'll just take time. But! Looking around, talking to these people, I realized I'm surrounded by geeks, goths and nerds! The guy who sits right behind me's right out of Flem, the other new hire is also into Anime (though he and his brother are more into Dragonball Z, and putting together Gundam figures. I told them I liked the ones with pretty little boys. ^_~ ) and the little Asian dude and the guy next to me in dreadlocks got to talking about comics.
I felt so at home!
Sure, all the numbers and file structures and checking procedures made my head spin... but that'll come in time as well.
I think one of the coolest thing tonight though, is that the office I'm in is in the same building as the Chronicle printing presses. When I walked out of the office suit and stood in the hallway, I could feel the presses running. It was as though the building itself was alive. Right then, even with the uncertainty and doubt, I couldn't help but feel a surge of energy go through me.
I can do this.
