zebralittle52Drove through the ghost town that was Houston today, making my way to work... most buildings are boarded, metal shutters drawn, gas pumps dry and pharmacies abandoned. Instead of my usual fight to get to the office, it was clear sailing, though I know that's only because I don't go anywhere near I-10 or I-45. Our pantry is stocked, the flashlights are on their chargers and the cars are gassed just in case. CZ should have the windows taped and potential projectiles moved inside by the time I get home... and then it's just a matter of waiting.
Honestly, the way the outbound freeways are parking lots, I wouldn't be able to get out of the city even if I wanted to. They've gone so far as to switch the inbound lanes into outbound to clear congestion, but people are still ecstatic to be going 5 mph... even the news has started point blank saying, unless you're in a flood zone, just stay home.
I really appreciate the thoughts and well-wishes I've gotten, talk about your warm, fuzzy feelings... but baring a tree through the roof, everything will be fine. (Keep repeating that, and it just might turn true. ^_~) Most of our friends around the city are staying as well... most with the plan of getting ripped while watching the rain, but still...
Come monday, we'll see who gets to turn to who and say I told you so.
