Good Eats

Lunch (ok, breakfast) was a treat... so good, I had to share. Mikki's Soul Food Cafe, a hole in the wall stuck on the end of an out of the way strip-center off the freeway. Been there for years, lots of good press, but we'd never gone by till today. The place sure doesn't look like much walking in, mismatched tables, plastic silverware, and all the food's served cafeteria-style at the back of the room... but the smell of the place, the spices and slow-cooked meats, hell even the vegetables, DAMN it smelled good! CZ got the ox tails and rice, I tried the apricot chicken (with real mashed potatoes, nothing out of a box) and both our plates were so overflowing with food there was almost no room for the gravy! Sweet cornbread, peach cobbler... we had to roll ourselves home. They said there's lines outside the door on Sundays, and I believe 'em... but so very, very worth it.
