Chicken Soup for the Lazy
Jun. 26th, 2006 01:39 pmYesterday CZ came down with a nasty 24hr stomach thing. He seemed fine when I left for the store, but by the time I got back he had the chills, fever and other assorted ugh.
Now if I'd known he was sick, I'd have loaded up on OJ and soup, but I'd picked up a roasted chicken instead... SO! I rummaged through the back of the pantry for one of those packets of instant mixes full of dried veggies and noodles, tore the meat off that chicken, and let it all simmer together for 20 minutes. (There's no telling how long that chicken had sat there in the store, so boiling was probably good for it anyway.)
The trick is, I threw in the chicken skin too, all crackly and full of roasting spices. Once the mix was done cooking, I tossed the skin and was left with a quick and dirty "homemade" chicken noodle soup that tasted a hell've a lot better than straight mix any day. ^_^
