And I'm back
Jul. 16th, 2006 06:26 pmIn the last 48 hours, I've been to Chicago and back... spent a full day celebrating Grandma's 90th birthday in 100 degree weather, slept a total of 3-4 hours, and managed to crush my thumb in the door (it's not broken, but we weren't sure there for a while). I gotta say, it was worth it just for the smile in her eyes.
She received something like 120 cards in the mail, and yesterday the neighbors set up a Meet & Greet for her in their backyard, with all her cards hanging from strings lined across their garage. People dropped by to tell her happy birthday that she hasn't seen in 20-25 years. Dad brought his guitar and some friends of his played music for everyone while much cake and tea were consumed. (And let me tell you, that was one hell of a cake! Chocolate vanilla marble, thick juicy strawberries in the middle, sweet cream icing on top... Damn!) We went out for dinner afterwords, but by then Grandma was completely wiped.
I had to fly back this morning and all I want to say about that is, in my humble opinion, certain precocious spoiled little whiny crying brat children like the one right behind me who kept kicking my chair should be boiled down for soap.
Good night.
