Watching as evening slowly dimmed, the muted greys and smudged browns washing brighter under the city's nighttime neon, another memory came unbidden. Nights had never been Amy's favorite time; she had never joined in the half whispered gossip between steel iron bunks, never dared risk enough demerits to warrant the kind of punishment a body never fully returned from... but every evening when the sun fell down, she would find her way to the great window at the end of the hall and watch the colors turn.
It was the color she missed most.
