Walmart's started rationing how much rice each customer can buy at Sam's. Word today's that it's because of a possible truckers stike due to the price of gas. If there's meat to this rumor, stocking up on dry goods/nonperishables might not be a bad idea.

I saw that, but I read a different reason for it... apparently some of the Asian countries are locking down their rice exports, so the prices of stuff like basmati and jasmine rice are about to take off. Most regular white and brown rice in the states isn't imported, so there shouldn't be too bad a hit on those. (Which is good news, 'cause I'm about to lean on rice REALLY HEAVILY to stretch out the food budget.)

*nod* There's that, too. At least, if it gets too bad, you can usually substitute rice with noodles.
