Mmmm...DVDs and bubble tea^^
Should someone try tapioca pudding before delving into that, since that's what the 'pearls' are made of?

The thing about Bubble Tea is, they use the other kind of tapioca. The stuff in the pudding is small and white, while the kind in the tea is large and black. (Except the canned teas that I've seen on the net, but I hear those are awful.) And really, they're pretty flavorless, only contributing texture and novelty, so if you had the pudding first and then went for tea, you might be expecting to taste pudding when you drank it? And personally, I'd start off with a mild tea, maybe almond, before experimenting with the odder flavors, but that's just me.

From what I hear, the tapioca balls are a bitch and a half to make, and have a very short shelf life. I'm not sure what there is on-line to order, but for a "first try" I'd really recommend finding a local tea shop for something fresh. They're not as rare as they used to be, you'd be surprised.
