Now, I know I don't like the normal things everyone else raves over... the looks I got for not liking Moulin Rouge were never ending (and trust me, if Nicole Kidman prancing around in her skivies doesn't do it for me, there's just something wrong!) but I was really, really looking forward to Spiderman...
It left me flat.
There wasn't anything wrong with the movie... not really. I'm no purist who's going to fritz over a change in cannon here and there to move things along if it doesn't take away from the story in general, so that's not it...
But there wasn't anything all that great about the movie, either. No moment or scene that I walked out of the theater going "Holly Effin' Shit! Can you believe they did that?" Not even a "Hee, I liked the part when they ___"
Just... flat. Like a painting with all the technical attributes correct, but no soul. No spark, or life. It's still a bowl of fruit.
Spidey is a bowl of fruit... and I can't even find the inspiration to make fruit jokes. Which is just sad. Even the big, wet kiss between Spidey and MJ was... mushy. And mushy fruit's just no good.
Bubble tea tomorrow will fix things.
